future perfect limited is an independent American production studio founded and operated by producer, curator, and arts administrator John Cardellino.
Most recently, John produced Powwow People, directed by Sky Hopinka, which premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and has screened internationally at festivals such as IDFA, Camden International Film Festival, True/False, CPH:DOX, and MoMA’s Doc Fortnight. The film received support from organizations including Ford Foundation's JustFilms, Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film Program, the International Documentary Association’s Pare Lorentz Award, Field of Vision, and the MacArthur Foundation.
John was previously Producer of Sundance Institute's Art of Nonfiction Initiative, a program designed to encourage and support inventive artistic practice in documentary filmmaking. Supported artists and films included Garrett Bradley's Time (2020), RaMell Ross' Hale County This Morning, This Evening (2018), Kitty Green's The Assistant (2020), Brett Story's The Hottest August (2019), and Sky Hopinka's Maɬni – Towards the Ocean, Towards the Shore (2020).
In 2023, John earned an MFA in Curatorial Practice from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where he focused on exhibition and production models bridging the film and fine art worlds. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Film and Media Arts from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he was born and raised, and has taught graduate-level filmmaking courses for Johns Hopkins University.
